Ethical Fashion will be in the spotlight at Pop Up Showroom: New York. Fair trade and organic alpaca accessories by Andes Made and Las Gringas, Moonlight Jewelry made from recycled sterling silver, and apparel fairly made in Africa by Modahnik.
Showroom International and the Bel Esprit Showroom created the Pop Up Showroom platform to give international independent designers a platform to show their collections during Market Week, when buyers and press are in town to attend trade shows. The pop up showroom gives ethical fashion designers the opportunity to present their collections to the mainstream fashion industry, while highlighting their ethical principles.
The showrooms are partnering with The Lane Style House to create the “Style-Off,” an onsite challenge for professional stylists to create a unique look by combining pieces from the collections in the pop up showroom, and giving retailers and consumers ideas on style, trends and “greening” your look.
The pop up showroom will take place February 19-20 at the Strand Hotel in New York. On February 19, the showroom opens at noon, and runs until 8 pm, with an informal presentation of the Style-Off looks in the rooftop bar 6-7 pm. RSVP’s are required for the bar event, and retailers and press may register to attend the pop up showroom at www.showroominternational.com (Register for Showroom). RSVPs for the bar event may be sent to showroominternational@gmail.com
Press and bloggers are invited to carry the Style-Off competition in their publications and get their readers involved in the voting!
